DPS application in waterproofing and anti-corrosion of Cangzhou Huarun Thermal Power |
DPS: A concrete protective agent that can withstand the test of time. It has the characteristics of waterproofing, corrosion resistance, sealing, vulcanization to strengthen the surface strength of new and old building materials and cement. It is non-toxic. A non flammable, odorless, non evaporable, and transparent aqueous compound. It is easy to use and can have the same lifespan as concrete, and the longer the time, the more crystals will form, and the better the effect.
Diseases of power plants and thermal power plants: As is well known, cooling towers are tall buildings used for circulating cooling water in thermal power plants and other industries. They rely on the evaporation of water inside the cooling system to transfer heat to the air and cool the water. Thermal power plants rely on coal raw materials, which have extremely high levels of sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide in the environment. The structural surfaces are washed away by acid rain, and the temperature difference between inside and outside in winter causes corrosion of steel bars in cooling towers, leakage and carbonization of tower walls. Traditional organic anti-corrosion and waterproofing methods are ineffective, so it is urgent to choose permeable crystalline materials.
Why not use other waterproof materials:
(1) Traditional maintenance materials with poor thermal compatibility with grassroots are mostly organic materials, such as epoxy, chlorosulfonate, tar coal tar pitch, etc. When concrete structures undergo expansion or contraction deformation, these materials cannot adapt well and may cause coating peeling.
(2) The surface treatment requirements for the base layer are high, and the coating of organic materials requires that the base surface must be flat and very smooth to avoid the formation of pinholes. However, in fact, it is difficult to achieve a very smooth concrete base surface, and the formation of pinholes is inevitable. The presence of pinholes provides a channel for water molecules to enter the interior of the structure. The expansion of water vapor generates capillary pressure, which acts on the interface between the substrate and the coating, causing the coating to peel off.
(3) The influence of interface stress is very sensitive. Coatings of organic materials are a barrier for water vapor, completely impermeable to water vapor and unable to pass through, resulting in strong "capillary stress" at the interface. The strong capillary pressure acts on the coating, causing pinholes to expand until the coating falls off on a large area, losing its waterproof function; The influence of interface stress becomes increasingly severe in environments with high-speed water flow, as high-speed water flow generates strong shear forces on the coating surface, creating a "tearing" effect at pinholes and cracks, accelerating the peeling of the coating.
(4) Due to the above reasons, as well as the structural and environmental characteristics of the cooling tower, the anti-corrosion protective layer made of organic materials needs to be overhauled every 5-6 years, greatly increasing the maintenance cost for the owner.
(5) The construction of organic materials, especially epoxy materials, is extremely difficult due to high labor costs.
DPS corrosion resistance: It is not only effective but also a structural part of concrete, it is only a surface material. Most sealing materials are used for surface treatment, and the composition of the sealing layer is completely different from that of concrete materials. It does not react with the moisture and moisture in the concrete material, and due to gasification and deterioration, the sealing layer peels off from the concrete.
DPS durability: It reacts with alkali ions to prevent gasification and deterioration, thus creating a durable waterproof, corrosion-resistant, sealed, and vulcanized layer. It is colorless and odorless. It undergoes a chemical reaction with free alkali in the concrete through permeation, solidifying the synthesized part into a crystal and blocking the capillary pores of the concrete. Therefore, it completely prevents dripping and wetting of the concrete without changing the physical properties of the structure. Water molecules cannot pass through, and it also completely prevents external harmful corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, oils, salts, and other substances from penetrating and damaging the concrete.
DPS affinity: It seals the capillary pores and small cracks of the concrete layer inside the concrete, so it only needs to be used once because it is not worn out like other materials. It can penetrate 20-30mm below the surface of the concrete
The construction of permanent condensate DPS is simple: it can be sprayed twice with only spray, without special base surface treatment, saving labor and time.
In some water engineering applications, it performs well with its unique dual crystal waterproofing properties of internal hydrophilicity and water absorption, inorganic environmental protection, and is a high-tech product that organic silicon materials cannot compete with. With its anti-corrosion, anti-seepage, and environmental protection properties, it can be safely applied and is green and healthy.
For example, substances such as acid, alkali, oil, salt, and other harmful substances outside thermal power plant water tanks, power plant cooling towers, and reservoirs can damage concrete, and water is no exception. When immersed in concrete, various damages will occur, greatly shortening the service life of concrete structures. However, the use of permanent curing solution DPS helps prevent such damage. Due to the chemical reaction with concrete, a gel like substance is generated. The capillary attraction and wetting force this gel like substance to enter the voids and channels under the surface of the concrete. DPS drifts along the capillary pores and channels of the concrete filled with free alkali and water vapor, and this product has an affinity for alkali and moisture. When drifting, it will encounter more alkali and produce more gel like substances. This process itself continues until the concrete is sealed, and it can make the concrete breathable and impermeable.
In summary, DPS has unparalleled advantages in anti-corrosion, waterproofing, and anti-seepage of concrete structures compared to other waterproof materials. Its environmental friendliness and high construction efficiency are also pursued in modern engineering construction. Therefore, DPS has been widely used in the construction of tunnels, bridges, civil defense projects, dam projects, military projects, and other projects around the world.
